WHAT IF ONE SENTENCE CHANGED WHAT YOU SAW?
We move through life carrying beliefs, assumptions, experiences, and stories we rarely stop to question.
Then a sentence finds us at exactly the right moment.
And suddenly, we see something differently.
That is the idea behind the Fairness 4 Cards.
THEY ARE NOT ANSWERS.
THEY ARE INTERRUPTIONS.
Each Fairness 4 Card contains a statement designed to make us stop.
Not to tell us what to believe.
Not to tell us who is right.
Not to solve the problem for us.
Simply to interrupt the way we were seeing it long enough to consider something else.
READ ONE.
THEN NOTICE WHAT HAPPENS.
Maybe you agree with it.
Maybe you disagree.
Maybe it makes you uncomfortable.
Maybe you immediately think of someone else who needs to read it.
And maybe that reaction is exactly where the exploration begins.

IT'S IN WHAT THE CARD OPENS IN YOU.
A card may take five seconds to read.
The question it creates might stay with you for five minutes.
Five days. Or change the way you see something for the rest of your life.
Because sometimes we don't need another answer.
We need the question that makes our old answer impossible to accept without reconsidering it.

Then notice the reaction underneath it.
You don't have to agree.
You only have to be willing to consider.

The Fairness 4 Cards were originally created for the Fairness 4 game and immersive art installation.
Each side combines an original statement with original artwork painted over headline
news from 2025 in the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times.
Real headlines.
Real events.
Real conflicts.
Real moments from the world around us.
The news documents the world we're living in.
The statements ask us to consider it.
And the art asks us to look again.
WHY PAINT OVER THE NEWS?
BECAUSE EVERY HEADLINE BECOMES HISTORY.
The news documents our wars and elections, discoveries and disasters, conflicts and breakthroughs.
It tells us what happened.
Fairness 4 asks us to consider more:
What are we seeing?
What are we missing?
What have we stopped questioning?
And perhaps most importantly:
WHAT WILL FUTURE GENERATIONS READ ABOUT THE CHOICES WE'RE MAKING TODAY?
THERE’S ALWAYS ANOTHER SIDE.
EACH SIDE HAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO SAY.
Two original statements.

Both are raw.
Both are apocalyptic.
Both reflect the uncertainty, conflict, chaos, and intensity of the world we are living in.
One is expressed through darkness.
The other through color.
Neither is better.
Neither is right.
Neither tells you how to feel.
And neither statement belongs to the darkness or the color.
THE MEANING IS YOURS TO CONSIDER.
WE SEE THROUGH WHAT WE CARRY.

Darkness doesn't have to mean despair.
Color doesn't have to mean hope.
A statement doesn't have to be positive or negative.
What we see depends, in part, on what we bring to it.
Our experiences.
Our conditioning.
Our emotions.
